Feature Car - Phils Mini Cooper S Works

Johnny got in touch with me a few weeks back saying he could get ModifiedNi a few feature cars and of course I thought GREAT! He knows a lot of people and the first car he said that would be up for a feature was a Mini Cooper S Works and to be honest I wasn’t overly excited until he showed me a picture from the Jon44w/ECC rolling road day and immediately I arranged a date for the feature!

We chose the council offices in Lisburn for the shoot location and shortly after 11am on a gorgeous Sunday morning I heard a lovely rip coming from an engine and there she was – absolutely gleaming in the sun. Philip pulled up beside us and after a brief introduction we moved round to the front of the offices for to get set up and take the pictures.

Johnny had informed me about Philips rims – there are only two minis in the world that have these rims and Philip is the second person to have them. The 18”Volk Racing GT7’s cost a wopping £3000!! They are more than worth it though and fill the Minis arches perfectly.

While taking the pictures, the sun got stronger which just made the Mini look that extra bit special than any other Mini I had ever saw. The S Works badge glittering in the sun looked awesome and as you can see the pictures turned out great!

After I had finished the pictures I was taking down Philips spec and a Jag. XJS pulled up and a guy got out of it wearing a chain of office and he came over straight away and we all thought he was going to politely ask us to move on but he did the complete opposite! He was telling us he owned 8 Subaru Imprezas in the past 11 or 12 years and currently owned a Forestor (just for change he said). He said he loved the Mini and would love to take it home! We found out he was actual the deputy Lord Mayor of Lisburn Trevor Lunn. I asked him if he wanted to be famous and wanted a picture beside the Mini to be seen by you lot and he was more than happy to!

So after Trevor left to go and judge the classic bike meeting that was also taking place we had yet a another guy admiring the Mini and he took down the website address so we were all happy about that too! I took a final look at the gleaming Mini and decided to call it a day.

We all learned that just because you get chauffeured about in a Jaguar doesn’t mean that you are old and boring! One of the best features I have ever taken with one of the sexiest cars and as it ripped away we heard the super charged 1600 engine for quite a bit. What a day and what a car!
